Description: Just two and a half hours from Milwaukee and within 45 minutes drive of the WI Dells, Castle Rock Flowage, Tomah and the Hidden Valleys area of Wisconsin and eleven miles south of Volk Field /Camp Douglas, six miles north of Elroy, WI.,. The Elroy Sparta Bike Trail is just to the south and the Omaha Bike trail with the Hwy S Tunnel is just to the east of our Alpine Hills Lake properties. There is an abundance of wildlife viewing every day and evening, along with a lot of peace and quite. Situated on eight wooded acres of this 180 acre private estate area is this 1050 sq ft, 9 inch full log home. The 27 x 17 ft pond is spring fed and supports about a half a dozen fish, some of them Koi. The original part (1997) and the balconied addition (2000) both have 3/4 lofts that together have two double beds, a love seat sofa bed and a queen bed with a half bath. The main floor has a 14 by 20 ft living room with a wood burner stove and an Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) off peak heater. Furnished with a full size sofa & matching overstuffed chair with ottoman, Direct TV/TV with a DVD player, Stereo with CD player and a tavern table with two wooden chairs and two bent hickory wood Amish made rocking chairs. The kitchen and dining area also has an ETS heater with custom made barn board cabinets, dinning table with six chairs, an Amish Pie Safe & German cabinet and a bath with a stacked washer and dryer. There is a 12 x 20 shed (Mini Barn) with a John Deere 160 lawn tractor, Columbia Golf Cart (seats 4), a Craftsman Radial Arm Saw and work benches, Ariens 824 Snow Blower, Alumacraft T14S fishing boat with a 20 hp Merc outboard and a new Caravan boat trailer and assorted hand and power tools. The 180 acre Alpine Hills Lake area has 2 miles of private, association maintained, roads surrounding Alpine Lake that is a private fish hatchery that is stocked with large and small mouth Bass, Walleye, Perch, Blue Gill and most reciently added Channel Catfish. There is very good fishing. Alpine is a non motorized 18 acre lake but trolling motors are allowed. Because it is private, no public access, all owners and their guests may fish without a fishing license. All of the 44 owners of the seventy lots have lake access, even if they are not directly on the lake, through the Dam / common / Sundeck pier area. We also have a neighborhood watch program in work through out Alpine. Realtors can not find anything in the immediate area to compare "Birds Nest" with as it is so unique in its construction and location. After three years of retirement, our desires have changed to traveling our great nation and we just can not afford both. Therefore we are sacrificing our 'Grasp Of Sanity' for $239,900.00. The property taxes are around $1800.00 a year and our association dues are $350.00 per year. This has been the hardest decision (to sell) we have had to make in our lives as there has been so much of us put into Birds Nest. When we bought these a little over eight acres back in 1994, it was vacant land, except for the old barn and house foundation we found on the property. While clearing some of the 8 arces we also found a spring fed stream flowing through it and two springs on the property that run year round, one of which we had landscaped into our 1900 gallon pond near our log home, all of which run year round. If you are looking for a quiet, cozy, warm & Beautiful Log Home and want that "warm fuzzy" feeling everytime you arrive, this is the Cabin for you.
